BUYING GUIDE
Tree Shape and Size
When it comes down to choosing the perfect artificial Christmas tree, it is a matter of personal taste, space, and budget. All artificial trees come in different sizes and shapes (wide or slim), from miniature Christmas trees to tall Christmas trees.
The construction of the tree is another factor to consider in choosing an artificial Christmas tree. The foliage should be crafted of crush resistant material with multiple tips usually made of poly-vinyl. The length and softness of the needles are things to consider when buying artificial trees. The wire of the branches is important, and should be strong enough to hold the heaviest ornaments. Usually, the cheaper artificial Christmas trees use thinner wire branches. The most natural looking artificial Christmas trees conceal the center of the tree with thick branches. Most importantly, however, an artificial Christmas tree should be easy to put together, take apart, and store away.
The most common tree height is 7.5 feet, as measured from the floor to the top of the tree. 9' to 10’ tall artificial Christmas trees are popular in rooms with high ceilings, and 6.5' artificial Christmas trees are popular for smaller rooms. 4'-5' artificial trees are popular for table-top locations or in apartments. When determining the right tree size, make sure to leave enough room for the tree topper, which can add up to a foot to the height of the tree.
The standard tree shape is "full"; trees for smaller spaces are called "narrow" or "slim Christmas trees." The tree diameter is a helpful measure for picking a tree. This measurement is taken at the very widest point of the tree, so the actual space occupied by the tree will be six to eight inches less than the reported diameter. Bending branch tips helps to fit an artificial Christmas tree that is too close to the wall or furniture. Artificial Christmas trees with a natural silhouette and properly fluffed branches can look extremely realistic and provide the perfect centerpiece to the holiday season.
