Decorating With Artificial Flowers
Flowers are stunning whether they are used as a centerpiece for a table or bringing splash of color to a room, but they can be challenging to maintain and costly to upkeep. Even if flowers are readily available or inexpensive, the disadvantage of real flowers is that the blooms eventually fade and leave only wilted petals and dead stems.
Artificial flowers are the perfect solution to home decorating needs. Artificial or fake flowers are realistic in both appearance and texture, so they are perfect to use instead of real flowers on the dinner table or in the parlor.
When shopping for artificial flowers, spending the time and money on the best possible artificial flowers is definitely a worthwhile investment. Though artificial fabric or artificial silk flowers can be expensive, they are true to their natural counterparts and last a long time. Artificial fabric flowers are also easy to clean, most needing only a vacuum every few months. Whether arranged in a complex bouquet or a single artificial rose in a long slim vase, artificial flowers add beauty and elegance to just about any setting. A single rose in a vase can brighten up a small bathroom or a dark corner.
Artificial blossoms bring the excitement and liveliness of spring year-round. Try different flowers in pastel shades for a classic look or be more adventurous with exotic artificial flowers in bright colors.
Creating floral arrangements with artificial or fake flowers is surprisingly easy. A Styrofoam base works just as well in the absence of a vase or a bowl. Aside from the artificial flowers themselves, one also needs scissors or wire cutters, floral wire, and floral tape. Once the stems of the artificial fabric or artificial silk flowers are cut, wrap green floral tape on the end of each stem. To lengthen the stem, wrap a length of floral wire with tape to the current stem until the artificial blossoms reach a desired height. Position larger flowers in the bowl or vase first, then fill in the empty spots with smaller artificial flowers and greenery.
